At one point in the mid-2000s, with his fledgling Surly Brewing Co. selling beer as quickly as it could make it in the Twin Cities, Omar Ansari made a dismissive semi-promise about expanding into the thirsty market next door.
“I said we’ll sell beer in Wisconsin when Favre plays for the Vikes.”
Brett Favre, of course, ended his legendary run with the Green Bay Packers in 2008 and, even more improbably, ended up in Minnesota the following year.
And Wisconsin still had to wait until now to get Surly.
