We are a casual, European-inspired neighborhood brasserie located on Madison's historic Monroe Street. Our concept is really pretty simple. It was borne out of the passion for the French Joie de Vivre developed over years spent in France and Belgium, and combines our love of simple, unpretentious food paired with Belgian beer and noble wines. We serve lunch and dinner daily, and a lite menu on Sunday. We also offer an extensive rotating selection of over 150 world-class beers, including 60 Belgians, and 14 tap options. Also, a full wine list featuring mostly European wines, all by the glass or the bottle. Our chef Rob Grisham and his staff prepare our food from scratch on-premises, using fresh, high-quality ingredients. While we are inspired globally, we source locally where we can. Some of our current local sources include Fountain Prairie Farms, Potter's Crackers, Bleu Mont Dairy, Hook's Cheese, Garden To Be, Harmony Valley Farms, among others.
Signature menu items include Frites (hand-cut potatoes double-fried in the classic Belgian tradition and accompanied with rotating aiolis), Cheeseboards with outstanding artisinal cheeses, and the Brasserie V Belgian salad (Frisee’ and grilled Belgian endive, crumbled egg, warm bacon, toasted almonds, and apple, tossed in apple cider vinaigrette).
The dinner menu always includes Steak-Frites (featuring a seared 12 oz Flatiron steak), Moules et Frites (classic Mussels Mariniere in a garlic, wine and butter broth), and Duck (currently a hand-made duck sausage). The rest of our menu varies seasonally, and you will often find one of Chef Rob’s or Chef Ben's daily specials on the chalkboard.
